Massage in einer Seitenstraße der Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok mit Happy End

happy ending Thai massage

A dream for many men and quite a few women. The erotic massage with the promised relaxation at the end – the famous sensual massage with a happy ending.

I do understand that very well. For many men, this is the ultimate form of relaxation. A kind of surrender that we men usually don’t allow ourselves so easily. Comfort level 10 with that special extra thrill.

Does that belong in the sleazy corner?

An indignant “YES” comes from the women’s corner, a mumbled “well, actually not” from the men’s corner. For me, as so often, it’s a “it depends.” Why that is the case, I explain further below.

The small but important difference to traditional Thai massage

It is very important to me to emphasize that Traditional Thai Massage (TTM) is not an erotic massage, but a therapeutic treatment for a wide range of physical complaints. It has been successfully practiced for centuries and is taught, among other places, at the famous Wat Pho in Bangkok. A physiotherapist friend describes it as a combination of passive yoga and acupressure.

Thai massage is also not always pleasant. When I go to the massage cooperative next to the Red Temple in Chiang Rai, I describe my back pain or problem areas. The experienced staff then find exactly the right trigger points – painful, but also helpful.

If I want it to be “just” relaxing, I usually choose an oil massage. It’s still not a muscle-focused massage like I know from Germany (and which is called “Swedish massage” here), but it is still noticeably more relaxing.

Happy ending? What exactly are we talking about?

When I talk about happy ending Thai massage, I mean a relaxing, erotic oil massage with an orgasm at the end, which is brought about by the use of the massaging person’s hands.

Others might understand it to mean different kinds of climax – for me, it’s not the same thing. Those in the know told me that in certain areas it’s quite possible to get oral sex or even penetration. “Up to you” – roughly translated: “Whatever you want,” or rather, whatever your wallet allows.

For me, oral sex or penetration is something different and clearly prostitution. Thai massage with a happy ending, in my opinion, falls more into a gray area.

Experiences with Thai massages with a happy ending

Please understand correctly. My experience with this is really limited and also a bit dated. But I’m a curious person and I like to ask about such interesting topics, how others experience them and how they work. That’s how I’ve learned a lot from others – connoisseurs, experts, enthusiasts, and so on.

In the mid-80s, I came to Thailand for the first time. I had heard and read so many stories and so much enthusiasm about it. There was also some boasting and some things whispered in confidence. At some point, many years ago, I wanted to satisfy my curiosity. So I took a look at it. I was not disappointed; the experience was outstanding.

An experienced man gave me a tip: “Go to that massage parlor. If they send you a young woman, refuse her. Then you’ll get an experienced woman who knows how to make men happy.”

I went to the recommended establishment. I rejected the young, quite pretty Thai woman even while lying down. And I was truly happy when I left the place after a wonderful hour.

Where does the Thai massage with a happy ending come from?

Some places in Thailand certainly have earned their notorious reputation for good reason. When I first came to Thailand in the mid-80s, I was warned. For precisely that reason, I avoided Pattaya like the plague for decades.

Of course, prostitution existed in Thailand before. But it truly flourished during the Vietnam War. For the young American GIs, it was a most welcome distraction from the death lurking in the Vietnamese rice paddies. For the Thai women, it was a great source of income.

Within this context of the R&R holiday from the front (rest and recuperation, rest and relaxation or rest and recreation), the happy-ending massage also developed for the stressed young men on recuperation leave.

From the 1980s onwards, tourists arrived with the advent of affordable long-haul flights. “With the ordinary tourists soon came the sex tourists, attracted by the comparatively cheap availability of ‘exotic’ sexually exploitable, sometimes still childlike, prostitutes.” ( Wikipedia on sex tourism in Thailand)

Where can you get such a Thai massage with a happy ending?

Just like in other countries, men are drawn to red-light districts like moths to a flame. In Thailand, this has even spawned a tourism industry. Bangkok’s famous Patpong Road attracted thousands of tourists. I find photos of families in front of signs advertising ping-pong shows disturbing.

As far as I know, Bangkok has three “adult entertainment districts”: Patpong, Nana, and Soi Cowboy. I once stayed at the ibis Styles Sukhumvit 4 in Nana with my mother, who was 80 at the time . The drive through Soi 4 was somewhere between funny and embarrassing.

Those searching in these areas will definitely be able to find a Thai massage with a happy ending on offer.

My recommendation for a Hotel close to the Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok BKK:
> Divalux Resort and Spa
Best for a relaxing sleep before or after a long flight.

Similar red-light districts exist on Phuket at Patong Beach, in Pattaya not only on Walking Street, and on Loi Kroh Road in Chiang Mai. In fact, I suspect they exist in every major city in Thailand.

When I walk past the Wangcome Hotel in downtown Chiang Rai, I’m always greeted by the familiar cry of “Massaaaaage!” The women are usually sitting at a table in front of the massage parlor, playing on their phones or eating something. I can’t help it, but I think a happy ending could happen here too. If I wanted it. But I just say my usual “mai aow” and smile.

There are probably massage parlors all over Thailand where a happy ending is possible. A friend of mine has a simple theory about it: In Chiang Rai, an hour of Thai massage costs 200 baht. The female employees get half that. 800-1000 Baht, or however much a happy ending costs, is simply a large sum of money that can be earned quickly.

WARNING: However, please do not assume that every massage shop in Thailand offers a happy ending. On the contrary, the vast majority of shops cater to serious customers.

In Europe, this is perhaps even more important to note. Thai massages in Europe usually do not offer a happy ending. There shouldn’t even be a need for a sign in the shop or a mention of it on the website. Anything else is erotic massage, which is also advertised as such on relevant websites.

How can I recognize a massage parlor?

Usually, you can spot them by the sign นวด – Nuad, by their appearance, and often by the inviting women. In tourist areas, you’ll also find foot massages at the roadside and massage tables on the beach.

How can I tell if it offers a happy ending?

It’s difficult to tell from the outside. As described above, the situation in and around red-light districts should be clear. If the ladies touch me in front of the shop and try to pull me inside (happened to me a few years ago in Bangkok), that’s also a clear indication.

Asking might help. “Mee special massage mai?” – would you dare to ask that? It might be easier just to let things unfold. If you suspect that a place might offer it, and you are asked to undress completely, you can relax. Traditional Thai massage is never done naked. If you are asked whether you would prefer a VIP room, the situation is also clear.

If the masseuse comes suspiciously close to a part of your body that is both sensitive and receptive, it does not necessarily mean anything. In fact, during traditional Thai massage, pressure is applied to the artery leading to the leg for some seconds. This is very close to that area.

I’m sure you’ll notice it when the masseuse is deliberately trying to get you to whisper “yes” to the question “Do you want more?”.

WARNING: If you are uncomfortable being massaged and made happy by a man, make sure you don’t end up with a ladyboy.

Prostitution is illegal in Thailand.

It’s kind of crazy in this country. There’s an entire industry with an unofficial annual revenue of an estimated 27 billion Dollar and over 2 million sex workers. Over the past few centuries, there have been periods when prostitution was legalized, encouraged, and even taxed. But since 1960, it’s been officially illegal. Everyone knows, quite a few families make a living from it, but officially, there’s no such thing as paid sex.

Then there’s the story of Chuwit Kamolvisit, a politician and owner of large brothels—officially operating as spas or massage parlors—who said in interviews that his employees provided massages. “What the adults do with each other after that is none of my business.” He testified in court that he paid $160,000 in bribes to the police every month for over 10 years.

Other types of erotic massage

Famous (or infamous?) are the soapy massage in Bangkok. These are also a type of erotic massage offered not only near Nana (search on GoogleMaps). The process is said to go as follows:

In front of a kind of aquarium, you’re invited to make your selection. You’re welcome to have a drink in hand. The aquarium is a room with tiered seating, filled with numbered women in bikinis. The glass partition facing the viewer is mirrored on one side. You’re allowed to make requests. The mamasan might then say into a microphone, for example: “Everyone without tattoos and with large breasts, stand up!” or “Everyone over 180 cm, stand up if you can converse with a farang in English!” (I imagine both of those requests would be rather difficult to fulfill.)

Now payment is required before proceeding. I was told that the fee was around 2500 baht, depending on the duration. In a room with a huge bathtub, the chosen woman prepares a bubble bath, in which she then uses her entire body to bring the man to a happy ending. Apparently, the water is also vigorously agitated, leading to some flooding. Depending on time and energy levels, a relaxing massage or further work follows.

This has nothing to do with a Thai massage with a happy ending. I’m simply describing what else seems possible in Bangkok.

Is there a “happy ending” for women too?

Yes, I was assured of that by men who would actually be in a position to know. I have not yet received a clear confirmation from a woman on this question due to lack of opportunity. At the same time, I am sure that these fantasies exist in women’s minds. Why not?

So what now? Does this belong in the disreputable corner?

Is it wrong for someone to treat themselves to a truly relaxing massage? Is it disreputable for a woman to perfect her technique to give her clients a fabulous experience? Especially if she supports her family that way?
(Quite apart from that, there shouldn’t be such a great social injustice that forces women to earn money through sex work.)

If there are no dependencies involved. If the whole thing happens with respect – on both sides. If no one is harmed in the process. Then why not tolerate, accept, and enjoy it?

Ideally, partners should give each other this as a gift. There shouldn’t be any need to “buy it elsewhere.” However, if both agree, even that might be possible. Singles have it easier; they just have to decide for themselves.

Incidentally, there are very thoughtful and reputable instructions on the internet for couples on how to create a beautiful genital massage.
