Comparing Hotels Near Bangkok Airport – My One-Night Recommendations

A very typical situation for travelers to Thailand:
You have an early-morning flight home and are looking for a hotel near Bangkok Airport to keep the journey short and stress-free.
Or the other way around: you arrive in Bangkok from Europe, but it’s already too late to continue on to your first destination in Thailand.

In situations like these, a hotel near Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok is ideal for a single night – without detours and with as much peace and quiet as possible.

Over the past few months, I’ve personally stayed overnight several times in hotels around Bangkok Airport. I deliberately tested different hotels and price categories to provide you with a well-founded selection. Below you’ll find the better hotels from this research, complemented by a clear comparison table. For the sake of completeness, I also list the less convincing options at the end.

What really matters in a hotel near Bangkok Airport

What’s important before or after a long-haul flight? For me, above all:

  • a short transfer
  • a good bed
  • and, most importantly, peace and quiet

These are the criteria I included in my comparison:

  • Distance from the terminal
  • Shuttle service (also early in the morning or at night)
  • Quiet location
  • Late check-in
  • Early check-in
  • Comfortable beds
  • Value for money

Of course, we all have different priorities. Which ones matter most to you? Other aspects that might be important include flexible cancellation (for short-notice flight changes), blackout curtains, a quiet air conditioner, or fast Wi-Fi.

Note on aircraft noise in Lad Krabang: A reader who lives near BKK Airport pointed out that in all hotels located directly under the flight path—i.e. along the extension of the runways—you can generally hear aircraft taking off and landing. That’s absolutely true. With the exception of The Great Residence, which I mention explicitly, none of the hotels presented here are located in that area.

Price comparison of hotels near Bangkok Airport

The quality offered naturally also depends on the price. To make the hotels comparable, I researched the lowest available price on Booking.com for each one—around four weeks in advance for the end of January. You’ll find these prices at the end of each hotel description.

Taxi to the recommended airport hotels

The official taxi stands are located on the ground floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport. They are divided into three categories: Big Taxi, Long Distance, and Short Distance. For the recommended hotels in the Lad Krabang district, Short Distance is the correct choice.

At the counter, simply tell them the name of your hotel and you’ll be assigned a driver immediately. The fare is between 100–150 baht, plus the airport surcharge of 50 baht.

My recommendations: tested hotels near Bangkok Airport

Divalux Resort and Spa

The Divalux Resort and Spa is a spacious hotel complex in a quiet location near Bangkok Airport. Rooms are available in several price categories and are suitable both for a short overnight stay before a connecting flight and—if you have a bit more time—even for a brief relaxing break.

The 24-hour operation is particularly convenient: check-in and check-out are possible at any time, as is the hotel restaurant. A free shuttle service runs around the clock every 90 minutes and reaches the terminal in about 20 minutes. This makes the hotel well suited for very early or late flights.

The property features a large swimming pool with a pool bar, and the rooms have balconies. I was pleasantly surprised by the international power sockets, which are very practical when using different plugs. The food is convincing, with the pizza being a particular highlight. There are no restaurants or bars in the immediate vicinity, however; meals and drinks are mainly taken at the hotel. A 7-Eleven is about a 10–15 minute walk away.

The adjacent canal looks clean and is even promoted by the hotel for paddle tours—an unusual but at least interesting extra.

For me personally, the comfortable bed and the quiet atmosphere were the deciding factors.

Price: approx. 1.600 THB
Conclusion: Excellent value for money, ideal for a relaxing night before departure – or even for a short stopover with a holiday feel.

Ploen Pirom – Small Garden Hotel Near Bangkok Airport

This hotel is noticeably smaller and more personal than typical airport hotels. The rooms are spread across a main building and several bungalows, all set within a lovingly maintained garden that immediately creates a calm, pleasant atmosphere. The hotel restaurant is beautifully located by a pond and is a great place to relax after arrival. The rooms feature a balcony overlooking the garden.

With a driving time of around 15 minutes to the airport, the hotel is conveniently located. A 7-Eleven and several simple restaurants are nearby and easily reachable on foot. Even without a pickup service, getting there is straightforward: a taxi from the airport costs around 160 baht. An airport shuttle is available for an additional fee.

“Small and cute” doesn’t quite fit, but family-run and cozy describes it well. The interior design in earthy and wooden tones emphasizes the warm, relaxed character of the place. Breakfast is good, the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is functional but rather simple.

Early check-in and late check-out are available on request, which can be very helpful for stopovers.

Price: app. 1.975 THB
Conclusion: A quiet, personal alternative to large airport hotel. Ideal for travelers who value atmosphere and relaxation.

Silver Gold Garden – The Budget-Friendly Alternative

Silver Gold Garden is the most affordable hotel on my recommendation list and is clearly aimed at travelers looking for a simple, low-cost overnight stay near the airport. Depending on traffic, the drive to the terminal takes about 15 minutes.

The rooms are surprisingly spacious and quietly located. The bed is decent, and the bathroom is modern, new, and also generously sized – a clear plus at this price point. A 7-Eleven is located directly on the main road about 200 meters away, and street food stalls along the way ensure you can still find something to eat in the evening.

Overall, the value for money is good. A 24-hour airport shuttle service is available for an additional fee. Late check-in is no problem, and early check-in is also possible – likewise for a surcharge.

One downside I noticed: my room was on the ground floor and accessible via a balcony door. The locking mechanism did not feel particularly secure, which could cause a slight sense of unease for more sensitive guests.

Price: app. 645 THB
Conclusion: A very affordable option for a short overnight stay near the airport, offering solid comfort with only a few minor compromises.
